Boiler Replacement
New boilers were furnished and assembled in place Horner & Shifrin provided mechanical and electrical engineering services to the St. Louis Community College system for upgrades to the primary heating system at two campuses. The engineering services included a feasibility study, evaluation of existing conditions, opinion of probable construction costs, construction documents (plans and specifications), bidding and construction management services. The renovation consisted of the replacement of hot water boilers in the central heating plant at both the Meramec and Florissant Valley Campuses. The scope of work for the Florissant Valley Campus consisted of the removal of two of the original three hot-water boilers and associated distribution pumps and distribution piping. These boilers were disassembled to remove from the central plant. Asbestos abatement was also conducted at this campus. Three new boilers were furnished and assembled in place. Each boiler is rated at 7,000 MBh (total capacity of 21,000 MBh). |
