New expressway will improve travel times between Quincy and Macomb
The Illinois Department of Transportation, District 4, selected Horner & Shifrin to prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for a 3.6-mile section of Illinois 336 in Hancock and McDonough Counties in western Illinois. The section currently being designed by Horner & Shifrin will be the final section to be constructed, and will complete the 68-mile corridor between Quincy and Macomb. The project consists of replacing the existing US 136 with a new, four-lane expressway with access control. Two new structures will be constructed over the East Fork of the LaMoine River, both being designed using Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) specifications. Design services performed by Horner & Shifrin and their subconsultants to prepare the construction plans, specifications and estimates include horizontal and vertical alignment, drainage analysis and design, intersection design, structural design using LRFD specifications, geotechnical engineering, and topographic and land surveying, as well as right of way plats, plans, and document preparation. |
