Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District; St. Louis, MOMunicipal, Government and Public Works Horner & Shifrin designed a major lift station to convey wastewater into MSD’s new treatment facility at the confluence of the Meramec and Mississippi Rivers in St. Louis. The lift station was designed and constructed to lift wastewater flow from a 225-ft-deep tunnel interceptor up into the treatment plant. A circular configuration was determined to be the most cost-effective structure to construct. This project included a biofilter system, designed to treat odorous/corrosive air flows conveyed to the screen structure and lift station by the interceptor tunnel.
