Safer Greens Bottom Road
Open to Traffic

Construction is now complete on the Horner & Shifrin-designed improvements to 1.4 miles of Greens Bottom Road for the St. Charles County Highway Department. The project boundaries reach from just west of Amrein Road to the beginning of Jungs Station Road.

The project involved relocating the roadway to a higher elevation above the floodplain and to the south of the existing alignment. According to Horner & Shifrin Project Manager Jarrett Jasper, “This project required close coordination with several agencies due to the permitting issues involved. The roadway was in a floodplain, wetland mitigation was required, and archaeological sites were within the project limits. We also coordinated closely with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources because of the project’s proximity to the Katy Trail.” Horner & Shifrin services included design of roadway alignments, grading, drainage, utility coordination, and federal funding coordination.
