Curb Ramp Improvements

City of Clayton, Missouri

Horner & Shifrin designed more than 300 new ADA/PROWAG compliant curb ramps over 3 years.

Overview

Horner & Shifrin surveyed and designed 87 new ADA/PROWAG compliant curb ramps within the City of Clayton.  A detailed survey was required to provide for analysis of ramp grades and cross slopes.  Vanguard detectable warning panels were installed at all new curb ramps as well as the design of a mill & overlay of the roadways adjacent to curb ramps, manhole adjustments, and street cross-slope corrections.  Drainage at all curb ramps were reviewed and corrected existing deficiencies to avoid ponding of water within pedestrian access routes.  Traffic staging plans and a striping plan for the project corridor was also prepared.
