Fort Leonard Wood Bridge Design-Build

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District

Design-build project for a replacement bridge on Training Area 244 in Fort Leonard Wood.

Overview

Horner & Shifrin provided engineering design and construction administration services on a team with contractor Kozeny Wagner as part of a design-build project for a replacement bridge on Training Area 244 in Fort Leonard Wood. The 63-ft long, single lane precast concrete girder bridge replaces a low water crossing which had previously washed out. The integral abutments are founded on steel H-piles driven to rock. Work included raising the profile of the gravel road approaches and the inclusion of guard rail. Horner & Shifrin also performed the role of Quality Control Manager during design and construction.
