University City Fire Department

H&S designed components of the building to meet the Accessibility Guidelines (ADA) as required by federal regulations.

Overview

Horner & Shifrin provided design services for the new five bay two story fire house. Project components include bunk rooms and living quarters on the second floor, administration offices on the first floor with five single opening bays. This project was designed for LEED certification. This project is part of the ARRA (American Recovery Reinvestment Act of 2009). H&S designed components of the building to meet the Accessibility Guidelines (ADA) as required by federal regulations. This included the installation of fire alarms, exit signage, domestic hot water temperature, toilet room fixtures and faucets along with adjusted light switch and thermostat heights. Our team also performed traffic signal modifications to accommodate the change in vehicle storage location of the firehouse.
