Overview
Horner & Shifrin provided engineering service for design, bidding and construction phase services for the replacement of approximately 9,700 feet of the existing Black Creek Trunk Sewer from Vogel Road to Miller Road with 12″ through 24″ diameter sewer pipe. Construction contract documents will be developed utilizing the Districts Standard Construction Specifications for sanitary sewer installation. A topographic and boundary survey will be conducted to confirm the exact location of the existing sewers, establish property/easement lines, and develop new and temporary construction easements. Geotechnical investigation was performed by Shannon & Wilson, Inc., as a subconsultant to H&S, to determine existing soil conditions, depth to rock and provide recommendations for special sewer trench excavation/backfill conditions, including 3 creek crossings, 2 road bores, and open-cut excavation adjacent to the bottom of a 300-foot long by 25′ high block retaining wall. Permits will be required from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Section 401 clean water and Section 404 / Nation Wide (No.13 Bank Stabilization). In addition, construction permits will be required form the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Department of Transportation, Jefferson County, and City of Arnold.
