Horner & Shifrin designed a new pedestrian bridge on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus that links the Devine Pavilion and Memorial Stadium. The new crossing accommodates pedestrians, bicycles and small vehicles such as golf carts. The design team incorporated design “cues” from the bridge’s surroundings, including the metal roofs on the Devine Pavilion and stadium press box, brick from both buildings, and limestone from Campus monuments. Bridge lighting was sensitively handled to eliminate glare for drivers on Providence Road below. Our team also assisted the University with the preparation of grant applications to secure funding for the project.
