Administration Building Design

Rock Creek Public Sewer District

A green infrastructure approach was incorporated into the design for stormwater retention and mitigation.

Overview

Horner & Shifrin worked with Rock Creek Public Sewer District to provide a new administration building, incorporating a stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP) approach into the design of the site. Vegetated swales and two bioretention basins were determined to be the best method for control of stormwater runoff, which resulted in the site exceeding the minimum stormwater requirements for this five-acre tribute area. A 52 ft long creek crossing was also designed in order to access the new 4,500 sq ft masonry building, requiring MoDOT coordination due to the proximity to I-55.
