Schoeneberg Road Bridge

Franklin County, Missouri

Overview

Horner & Shifrin performed an inspection of the 18′ long single span bridge carrying Schoeneberg Road over an unnamed creek.  Inspection was completed to determine the scope of needed bridge repairs.  The bridge consists of closely spaced shallow steel wide flanges with a concrete deck on stone abutments.  Repair and replacement options were investigated and cost estimates provided in a report.  Final design and development of construction drawings and specifications of the recommended solution was completed.  A new concrete slab superstructure was designed featuring 18-inch concrete curbs.  The existing abutments were reused but tuckpointing repairs of the stones were specified.  Additional safety reflective markers were placed in the vicinity.  H&S was able to complete the work even sooner than the already accelerated schedule which was required when the existing bridge had to be closed to traffic due to poor condition.
