Two H&S Projects Recognized at 2025 APWA Missouri Chapter Awards
Two standout projects from Horner & Shifrin recently took top honors at the APWA Missouri Chapter’s Project of the Year awards, highlighting the firm’s commitment to community-focused solutions and rapid response.
The Jefferson/22nd Traffic Flow and Corridor Improvements project in St. Louis was recognized in the Transportation category for its transformative impact on the city’s downtown. As the design lead, Horner & Shifrin helped reestablish the city’s street grid, improve traffic flow from I-64 to the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency West Headquarters, and create safer, more accessible routes for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. The project also supported the development of St. Louis CITY SC’s new stadium and surrounding areas, turning former highway land into vibrant, connected neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, the Route U Emergency Slide Repair in Warren County earned accolades in Disaster/Emergency for its swift and effective response to a major slope failure. When a landslide forced the closure of Route U, Horner & Shifrin’s team delivered emergency engineering design services, including excavation to bedrock, slope stabilization, drainage improvements, and new guardrails. The design was completed in just 80 days, allowing the road to reopen quickly and restoring a vital connection for local residents and travelers.
Both awards reflect Horner & Shifrin’s dedication to practical, people-first infrastructure—making communities safer, more accessible, and better connected.
