Marion Operating Center Parking and Stormwater Improvements

Overview

Horner & Shifrin provided Surveying and Civil/Site Engineering services for site and stormwater improvements at Ameren’s Marion Operating Center in Marion, Illinois.  A topographic survey was performed on approximately 2 acres of the property, including utility locates.  The 1.5 acres of site improvements consisted of replacing storm sewers with larger sewer pipes to increase capacity and replacing deteriorating pavement. Bid alternates were provided to include additional pavement replacement and pavement/security fencing expansion.

The project required coordination with the City of Marion for storm sewer and entrance improvements in City right-of-way and with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for Land Disturbance activities.  Horner & Shifrin Environmental personnel provided documentation to the State Historic Preservation Office for cultural resource impacts and the Department of Natural Resources for Ecological Compliance.  Construction phase services provided by H&S included weekly contractor meetings, shop drawing review, and punch list compilation for construction closeout.
