Overview
Horner & Shifrin provide mechanical and electrical engineering services to replace two existing 750-ton water cooled chillers with magnetic bearing chiller at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
The scope of work also included replacing the associated chilled water pumps and condenser water pumps, adding bypass piping to the cooling tower and upgrading the controls to be automated for the new equipment. The construction for replacing the chillers was phased to limit the overall reduction in chilled water capacity for the hospital campus. VFD’s were installed on the new pumps to improve system efficiencies.
The project qualified for approximately $100,000 in Ameren Illinois rebates back to the Owner.
