Overview
Horner & Shifrin completed design of a replacement structure for St. Cyr Road over Calumet Creek. New concrete wingwalls tie into an existing sheet pile wall and soldier pile wall with concrete lagging. The project also included a new 0.2 mile long asphalt overlay from Bellefontaine Road east to the City Limits and a new multi-use path along the roadway which is part of Great Rivers Greenway’s trail system. An innovative solution to temporarily lower St. Cyr Road underneath a nearby railroad bridge allowed the Calumet Creek culvert to be constructed under roadway closure. This approach saved significant time and money for the project.
