Overview
Since 2014, Horner & Shifrin has been involved in the repair and inspection of Ameren Missouri’s underground network vaults located in and around downtown St. Louis. H&S performed physical inspections and provided ceiling repair plans for network vaults and indoor rooms. A design alternative was developed to replace existing entry point frames with more robust steel plates, speeding up the fabrication process and allowing for easier installation by the contractor. H&S improved nearly every steel product that the network vaults and service compartments utilize. This included the development of a product to allow for easier attachment of bus insulators to vault ceilings, which prevents alignment issues during casting.
