Overview
When Lake County Division of Transportation asked us to help preserve and improve Deerfield Parkway in Buffalo Grove, we saw an opportunity to make a real difference for everyone who travels this busy road. Our team jumped in—surveying, planning, and designing solutions to keep the concrete pavement strong and safe along a 3-mile, 4-lane stretch from IL 83 to US 45.
We love a challenge, so we got creative. Using a detailed video inventory and partnering with industry leaders like Wavelogix, Henry Frerk & Sons, ALAMP, and MSL, we brought new technology and materials to the table. Wavelogix’s advanced sensors helped us monitor concrete performance in real time, allowing us to develop and place concrete mixes that cured in as little as 4 to 12 hours—much faster than the usual 2 to 3 days. That meant less waiting, fewer lane closures, and smoother commutes for commuters and community members alike.
But we didn’t stop there. Making the road safer and more accessible for everyone was just as important. We upgraded sidewalks, improved curb ramps, and added pedestrian countdown timers and Accessible Pedestrian Signals at five intersections—all without needing extra land or moving crosswalks. In total, we prepared 40 ADA sheets and 20 traffic signal sheets to support these upgrades.
Finishing the project seven months ahead of schedule was a proud moment for us—and it set the stage for a pavement preservation partnership with Lake County. As an employee-owned firm, we’re personally invested in every project and every client. We bring innovative ideas, technology, and a commitment to making our communities better places to live and travel.
This is what we do: deliver results, build relationships, and make a positive impact—one project at a time.
